
From a very young age, Nick had aspirations of someday becoming a racecar driver. He had shown a love of motor sports ever since he was old enough to go to the racetrack where he would watch his dad, Gary, race. At the age of 6 years old, Nick began his racing career racing Quarter Midgets. In his first season of Quarter Midgets, he won every race he had entered in. After a successful run in Quarter Midgets, Nick began racing go-karts at the age of 11.
Nick received his first feature win in go-karts in 2003 and won the championship in the Junior 1 class at IMI Motorsports Complex in Dacono, Colorado. He repeated his IMI Jr. 1 championship in 2004, winning 10 main events along the way. Also, Nick finished 3rd in the Colorado Sprint Championships Series in the Jr. 1 class where he finished on the podium in 10 out of 11 races. 2005 saw Nick moving up to the TaG Jr. class, where he finished 4th in points at IMI with 1 feature win. In 2005, Nick also qualified for, and competed in, Danny Sullivan’s Red Bull Driver Search Western Run-Offs in Sonoma, California. Nick was the top qualifier at the track in which he qualified for the run offs, and the youngest driver to compete from Colorado.
2006 found Nick running a limited schedule at IMI and The Track at Centennial, where he compiled 6 wins in 8 races. Nick also finished 3rd in the Inaugural Greeley Grand Prix in the TaG Jr. class. Nick ran a full CSC schedule in 2006 where he had 3 podium finishes in the TaG Jr. class. In 2007, Nick was once again racing in the highly competitive TaG Jr. class. He started off the season on a good note by winning the Greeley Grand Prix. He then moved his focus to the CSC series, where he placed on the podium 4 times out of 5 races and won the CSC race at The Track at Centennial in Centennial, Colorado and finished 3rd in points for the season. Nick finished his season by finishing 4th in the TaG World Championships which was held in Dacono, Colorado.
With track proven talent, and 10 years of racing experience, 2008 found Nick moving up to 600cc Mini Sprints where he would be competing at multiple tracks across the state against a field drivers averaging over twice his age. Nick won Rookie of the Year, and at age 16, became the youngest driver ever to win the RMMSA Championship, with 9 main event wins in 18 races, and an average finishing position of 2nd. Nick also won the Sportsmanship award in 2008, which was voted on by his fellow competitors. Along with a championship in the Mini Sprints, Nick was the winner of the 2008 TaG World Championships in the Sr. 4-Stroke class, driving for the Rocky Mountain Kartworks team.
The 2009 season saw Nick pulling double duty in both the Mini Sprint and the Randy Clark owned Super Late Model. Nick continued his success in the Mini Sprint by compiling four wins and one second place finish in five races. Nick also saw some success in the Late Model by earning the Colorado State NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Rookie of the Year honor.
In 2010, Nick plans on running the Randy Clark owned Late Model again at Colorado National Speedway as well as various other tracks around the region. His goals include main event wins in the ultra competitive late model class as well as contending for the championship. Please stay tuned and continue following Nick throughout the 2010 season.
